2.7 – Site Plans

Standard: There shall be site plans to guide the use of existing and the development of future areas and facilities. A site plan is a depiction of a park site of that is drawn to scale and delineates features such as building and facility locations, roads and trails, use areas and utility.

Suggested Evidence of Compliance: Provide a representative sampling of the agency’s area and facility site plans.

COMMENT:  Need: A brief description of any relevant evidence that was included and why it ties to the standard. Considerations to describe include: Was this site plan implemented or when will it be or is it existing? Why it was developed, and amenities selected.
RESPONSE: Multiple examples of Site Plans were provided as evidence for this standard. While all the examples provided comply with the standard, following are brief descriptions of how three of these examples adhere to the standard.

EOC 1 Bronx River Pathway Site Plans
The Bronx River Pathway Site Plans were provided to illustrate the type of projects PRC is currently working on. This example shows design drawings for a new pathway that PRC intends to construct within the Bronx River Parkway Reservation which is a County-owned park. This pathway segment will connect with existing pathway segments to the north and south of the project site. The project includes, new pathway pavement, benches, footbridge improvements landscaping and other site work. Construction has just begun on this project.

EOC 4 Muscoot Farm Site Plans
The Muscoot Farm Site Plans are a good example of the creative design work being conducted by the County’s own in-house design staff. Various improvements were proposed to maintain and better manage this popular County park and active farm including the replacement of brick sidewalks and patio’s around the main house, gravel pathways, and replacement of the old woven wire pasture fences, parking lot and other related improvements. The project is currently under construction.

EOC 5 Mohansic Golf Cart Storage Facility Site Plan
These Plans were developed to address the need for an indoor golf cart storage and maintenance facility at the Mohansic Golf Course. Construction was completed on this new facility in 2023. Improvements included cart washing equipment station, overhead doors, HVAC system, asphalt paving around the building, retaining walls, landscaping and other site work.

 

Narrative:

PRC encompasses over 18,000 acres of parkland which include over 50 facilities. Staff work closely with in-house County design staff as well as consultant designers to prepare site plans for various recreation facilities including for pathways, parks, fields, farms, and golf cart storage to name a few.

With a history of land acquisition dating back to 1922, PRC has extensive files which can be viewed in person at the Administrative Offices. Current files are located in the first floor hall file cabinets with the remainder residing in the basement in the Map Room. Many files are also digitized.
