7.2.1 – ADA Existing Facility and Site Access Audit

COMMENT: Please select key examples and reduce the overall number of EOC items.
RESPONSE: Five key examples are included as EOC 17-21.
COMMENT: The narrative indicates PRC conducts a Facility Accessibility Assessment Survey of its facilities to be in compliance with ADA. Multiple completed FAAS forms are provided as EOC. How often are these conducted/completed?
RESPONSE: PRC conducts Facility Accessibility Assessment Surveys every two years to ensure that our facilities are ADA compliant. PRC will continue to meet national requirements to be ADA compliant. As we renovate we will bring new facilities update with national standards.
COMMENT: If larger improvements are identified, how are they prioritized?
RESPONSE: If larger improvements are identified they will be prioritized based off of capital approval.
COMMENT: The suggested evidence of compliance includes checklists, digital images and site reports. Please provide digital images and site reports.
RESPONSE: Digital images of compliance are now included as EOC 22.
REVISED AGENCY EVIDENCE OF COMPLIANCE:
Narrative:
The Westchester County Office for People with Disabilities ensures that the County is in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) including the US Department of Justice Title II Regulation as it pertains to Part 35.
PRC conducts a Facility Accessibility Assessment Survey (FAAS) of its facilities to be in compliance with ADA, and to aid in meeting requirements and act as a guide to identify barriers. While some deficiencies can be addressed by utilizing the PRC General Maintenance Division, larger improvements are incorporated into the Five-Year Capital Projects Program.
Ongoing improvements to facilities have included the installation of handicap-accessible benches, ensuring accessible routes from arrival points and entrances, and installation of handicapped accessible playgrounds.
