REVISED AGENCY EVIDENCE OF COMPLIANCE:
Narrative:
PRC solicits private, corporate and nonprofit support to fund programs, improvements, employee training and procurement of equipment to help supplement its operating budget. Many Friends groups act procedurally on behalf of PRC to obtain this support. Terms of acceptance, and implementation and management of this support are described in license agreements PRC has with these Friends groups.
Westchester Parks Foundation (WPF)
As the most prominent auxiliary funding source, WPF regularly fundraises and contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to support programs and services including the Kensico Dam Plaza (KDP) Music Fest and Fireworks and Camp Morty at Mountain Lakes Park, and funds in-house personnel training and staff conference speakers. They also hold fundraising events including an Annual Gala and the popular Winter Wonderland at KDP. Finally WPF organizes and implements Volunteer Programs hosted by groups, corporations and individuals who volunteer their time on a variety of labor intensive tasks and projects.
Friends of Westchester County Park Organizations
Nature Centers, Muscoot Farm and Lasdon Park have established Friends groups that raise money for programs and volunteer time providing labor to maintain and preserve parkland. They provide funding for programs and speakers, and in the case of the Friends of Muscoot Farm are responsible for the purchase of animals. The Friends of Lasdon Park contributed funds and in-kind construction services during the building of the Park’s Conservatory. They also run various fundraising events through membership fees and events and programs.
Corporate Sponsorship
Corporations seek sponsorship opportunities for high-profile programs such as Screenings under the Stars at KDP, Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway, and the Holiday on the Hill Train Show at Lasdon Park.
