8.4.2 – Handling of Disruptive Behavior Procedures
Standard: There shall be established procedures for agency staff on response to disruptive behavior at agency areas and facilities. Procedures shall identify the role of staff in intervention when an incident occurs, documentation of behavior and delineation of law enforcement roles in handling behavioral issues.
Suggested Evidence of Compliance: Provide current procedures regarding handling of disruptive behavior.
Narrative:
PRC has an established procedure to handle disruptive behavior at its facilities. Frontline employees secure the area, attempt to deescalate and move the disturbance away from public areas. Site managers are contacted and take the lead in deescalating.
If this is not successful, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety (DOP), usually posted at the facility, are called to further handle. If a disturbance occurs in a remote area or off hours, DOP is contacted and may request mutual aid from the municipality in which the facility is located until they can arrive on scene.
